The truth is …
The Scrum Guide is very open on how we do things. So, as with every framework. The more freedom we have, the more rules we must create using the framework.
But then again. The few things it tells us to do, we must do.
I have heard people telling me that Scrum does not work.
And yes, only some projects can be scrumified. Some setups need Kanban, Scrumban, or even waterfall.
But for those projects where Scrum can be used, it holds immense potential. It’s only when we give it a fair and thorough chance that we can truly see its effectiveness and potentially reap its benefits.
Imagine Usin Bold switching over from a 100-meter sprint to a 110-meter hurdle. If you put ski boots on his feet, don’t say it’s not working.
The truth is the effectiveness of Scrum is not a given. It requires us to provide the right setup, commit to the process, and make the necessary changes for it to work.
Transformation takes time, effort, and change.
